Bellevue Skate Plaza

Well, I decided that I needed more exercise. With my girl out of town, that took away the option of tennis or a bike ride (don’t feel like riding a bike alone). So I decided to get my blade on. I had only been to the Bellevue Skate Plaza once before to film for a VIMBY piece, and wasn’t really all that impressed with the variety of obstacles but I decided to give it a go. Got up at 5:30am(!) and got to the park just as dawn was breaking. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve skated. Maybe a handful of times in the past 2 years, and I haven’t done a handrail since April 8th, 2007 in Salinas, California.

At first I wasn’t having much fun, but then I brought out the camera and started hitting a few more tricks, and thinking of new things to skate. All in all, I’d say this is a really fun park, especially when there are no skateboarders to contend with. I would like to continue skating on a more regular basis, although it is questionable if I will ever do a handrail again. At 24 with no health insurance, it isn’t really worth the risk (even though handrails are my favorite part of skating). Check out the video!

You may or may not have noticed the addition of a webcam for the rabbit in the nav bar up there. I cannot guarantee that the webcam will be functional very often, nor can I guarantee that JoJo will be visible in the picture (she is often out of her cage during the day). Either way, check it out!

R.I.P. to my 15GB 3rd generation Apple iPod, which I am now retiring after 4 and a half years of constant usage. It never once broke or gave me any problems, was only formatted one time after it was purchased, and didn’t even display lousy battery performance until the very end. Of course, I am quite happy to be replacing it with my new 120GB iPod Classic, which was a Christmas present from Darcie. While everyone else has been doing it for years, I am now able to watch videos and display album art on my iPod. It also works with my Alpine car stereo, which the 3rd gen did not. Hooray!

LaCie

Well it happens about once a year…one of my LaCie drives fails. I will never buy another LaCie drive. In fact, I didn’t even buy this one…I “borrowed” it from the old employer’s “drive graveyard”. Which means it was broken, and I brought it back to life. Probably not a safe idea to put my data on it right? Wrong. Anyway, I am making too big of a deal out of this; there wasn’t anything of much importance on the drive and I ran DiskWarrior on it and replaced the directory without losing any data. So…false alarm.

P.S. Don’t buy LaCie. Although my external LaCie Lightscribe burner works well.
